Submarine BECUNA's diesel engines provide power to electric generators, which provide electricity for the boat and are connected to batteries which are in turn connected to a set of motors. The motors are what actually drive the submarine. BECUNA and her fellow diesel-electric submarines are examples of early hybrid transportation.
